Sweet, Sweet September
How I adore this month.
The crisp winds blowing crunchy leaves, oversized colorful sweaters, and warm apple cider from a local farm we stumbled upon that weekend. Don’t forget another rewatch of Gilmore Girls for the thousandth time with a half-drank, kinda coldish cup of coffee in hand.
Reflections of September
September has always been the greatest month of reflection for me. Something about seeing the deepening of the leaves on my afternoon walks sparks a joy within me that I just can’t seem to articulate. It feels like poetry. Magick flowing from the tips of my fingers that I can’t release fast enough.
I will say with confidence, the shortening days bring upon a feeling of coziness—not despair. Watching the setting sun paint the sky with his beauty is something we have the privilege to behold.
It is at night I find my innermost thoughts tend to surface, as I try to make sense of whatever idea or emotion free-flows from my mind. I ask the moon for her guidance, knowing all will make sense in perfect divine timing.
Seasonal Rituals
I adorn my doorway with a handmade wreath, listen to Fleetwood Mac, collect acorns and pinecones to decorate, and of course—who could forget about all the candles.
I understand this season is fleeting and as much as that saddens me, I have made peace with it. I hold on a little tighter, I write and read a little more, and I embrace what warmth is left in the day before the darkening months.
Romanticizing the season with literature, coffee shops in the rain, old academia films, and some moody classical music.
An Invitation
This September, I encourage you to embrace a nostalgic point of view.
Go to that pumpkin patch, take the hay ride, and pick the apples.
Make some jam for yourself or a loved one.
Get to that book that’s been sitting on your nightstand.
Use the energy of the season to release what no longer aligns with your intention—burning the paper (safely) during the full moon in an old cauldron or bonfire.
Create an Equinox ritual by acknowledging your own inner balance between the light and dark, decorating your home with natural materials found on your nature walks. Bake some yummy treats to share with those you love and take a moment or two in silent reflection.
Gratitude & Trust
Give thanks for the journey that landed you where you are now sitting, in this present moment. Thanks for the blessings, but also the hardships that became teaching moments—even the ones we still don’t quite understand.
I truly believe the universe does not make mistakes but puts us through the tests we can handle, even when we feel they have broken us. We are part of a bigger plan; we are infinite endless energy.
What a beautiful blessing it is to feel, and to feel deeply. Living right here, in this present moment, in this perceived timeline.
Closing Words
I wish you all a wonderful transition into Autumn.
It is my hope that you dive into the warmth of this season with arms wide in surrender for what is divinely meant for you. That you do not shy away from the upcoming darkness but embrace deep rest, reflection, and the budding moments of creation.
