Meet Ayisha
My interest in somatic healing began as a way to navigate my own stress and burnout. After thirteen years in a career that no longer nourished me, I stepped away to study psychology, only to discover that the traditional path didn’t feel fully aligned. What stayed constant was my fascination with the body–mind connection and the science of how we store and release emotion.
This curiosity led me to somatic practices that honor both evidence and intuition—approaches that invite the nervous system to regulate, the body to speak, and the heart to soften. I weave intuitive exercises and seasonal rhythms into my work, believing that nature’s cycles offer a timeless guide for balance and renewal.
I have a love for romanticizing the small moments—losing myself in a good book, breathing in the quiet magick of the woods, and curling up with my cats and a cup of tea. Autumn feels like my truest reflection: crisp air and golden light, the art of letting go, and the soft promise of renewal. It is also my biggest inspiration, weaving and honouring the light and darkness of the season as a reflection and mirror into ourselves.
I invite you to follow along as I continue down this path of learning and discovery, deepening my understanding of the body, the mind, and the ever-unfolding journey of healing.
FAQs
-
Somatic Healing is a body first approach to healing. Somatic healers may integrate multiple holistic modalities such as (not limited to) breath work, EFT, and intentional movement in order to aid in nervous system regulation. This allows for a sense of safety in the body by releasing and processing stuck emotion, tensions, and past traumas.
-
Somatic healing places its focus on the body's experience. It allows the client to notice where these emotions and stressors may be stored and allows them to be released in a safe, supportive and mindful way.
-
Breath work is the practice of using intentional breathing patterns to influence the body, mind, and nervous system. Our breath is directly connected to the autonomic nervous system — the part of the body that regulates stress, rest, and healing. By slowing, deepening, or rhythmically changing the breath, we can shift the body out of “fight-or-flight” and into a more balanced state.
-
Emotional Freedom Technique is the practice of tapping on acupoints along the meridians (energy pathways) on the face and upper body while focusing on a thought or feeling. This practice sends signals of safety to the amygdala, calming the nervous system. Tapping can be used to rewire feelings of emotional or physical tension by combining mindful awareness with this technique.
-
Meditation can have a powerful impact on the mind and body. By taking moments to pause, we give ourselves the time to calm the nervous system, release tension and stress from the body, deepen our connection to intuition and purpose by breathing and coming back to ourselves. Meditation is not about clearing the mind but allowing yourself space to feel, notice, and tap into your own inner wisdom.

I will be adding new offerings monthly as my own journey in this field progresses. These may centre around breathwork, meditations, EFT, and other modalities I bring into practice. If you are unsure which offering is best for you, I do have a section of my website that contains complimentary offerings as a way to say thank you for your support. You can also find me on instagram briarwillowsomatichealing where I post information weekly, videos, and share my journey along the way.
